Resources

We offer incomparable experience in the design and construction of tunnelling and underground space.

Of our 60-strong team, more than 50 are technical staff – designers, technicians or materials specialists – providing dedicated, delivery-focussed project capability in-house. This gives us a technical to non-technical staff ratio that exceeds the industry average, and allows us to provide you with the expertise to deliver your project and exceed your expectations.

Our Innovations

Our expert teams have delivered world-class levels of innovation, devising many techniques that have since been adapted as industry best practice.

Value Engineering

We are passionate about providing best value, sustainable solutions for our customers. Drawing upon our extensive industry experience across multiple sectors, we constantly challenge the status quo and this has helped us bring many significant innovations to market.

By engaging in research and development and proof of concept testing, our teams fully explore industry codes of practice and exploit cutting-edge technology, both at our in-house laboratory and in collaboration with universities and independent test houses.

Collaboration

Collaboration between experts is fundamental to delivering solutions to complex issues. We believe that successful projects can only be delivered in a collaborative environment, and work to create seamless interfaces between customer, designer, contractor, and key members of the supply chain.

Through our extensive network, our ability to bring the right people together is what we do best.

As facilitators and ideas enablers, UnPS has introduced the world of tunnelling to many new concepts and methods. Many of these innovations have been developed by working closely with peers who are the best in their field. These include universities such as Oxford University and the University of Warwick; manufacturers of Tunnel Boring Machines and waterproofing equipment; and fellow civil engineering companies in joint venture.

A defining moment in our history was when we connected Herrenknecht, Putzmeister, Morgan Vinci JV and Oxford University to develop the MultiMode™ Tunnel Boring Machine as a safe solution for the construction of the Heathrow T5 Tunnels.
